We are delighted to bring you an interview with Christopher vom Berg, Deputy Head of Economy and Policy, Sustainability Assessment, Policy and Strategy at the nova-Institute. The institute recently received the Forum’s Bio Act of the Year Award for its Renewable Carbon Initiative.

Christopher has been with the nova-Institute since October 2017 and works actively on the Renewable Carbon Initiative. He conducts life cycle and sustainability assessments on bio-based products and materials.

Marcello Brito is a crucial partner of the World BioEconomy Forum as a member of the Advisory Board, as well as being a major partner in the organization of the event. With more than 25 years of experience in the oils and fats industry, Marcello Brito currently serves as President of the Brazilian Agribusiness Association (ABAG), Board Member of the Brazilian Palm Oil Association (ABRAPALMA), member of the executive board of the Brazilian Organic and Sustainable Association (Organis) as well as the CEO of Agropalma group, the leading palm oil producer in Latin America. He has been working in environmental, social, and economic developments since 1997, always bringing together the private sector, NGOs, and governments.

Monika Rauh is the Head of Division Industrial Affairs, Chemical, Textile, Woodworking and Paper Industry, Bioeconomy within the Bavarian Ministry of Economic affairs. She began working in the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs in 1993, and has since held multiple roles within the ministry as well as in the Bavarian State Chancellery and the Bavarian State Bank. She joined the World BioEconomy Forum as an esteemed panelist in the Roundtable on People, Planet, Policies.

Carolina Balian is an Economist graduated from the University of the Republic of Uruguay. She has a postgraduate degree in Economics and Law of Climate Change from the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO). Currently, she works as an Advisor in Natural Resource Economics and Climate Change in the Office of Agricultural Planning and Policy of the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP) of Uruguay, focused on the development and validation of the Bioeconomy Strategy. She also participated in the elaboration of the National Adaptation Plan for Agriculture, as well as in international climate change negotiations related to agriculture under the UNFCCC. Carolina Balian joined as an esteemed panelist during the Roundtable on People, Planet, Policies.
