World Bioproduct Day 7 July 2022 – a new digital biorefinery service published

World Bioproduct Day will be held on 7 July to enhance the awareness of bioproducts once again. World Bioproduct Day itself is advanced by a month-long social media campaign.

The World BioEconomy Forum is promoting this year’s World Bioproduct Day in a collaboration with BioVoices. The initiative is also supported by Transition2Bio, The European Bioeconomy Network and the SPRING – Italian Cluster of Circular Bioeconomy. During the campaign any stakeholders of the circular bioeconomy can share their story of their favourite bioproduct via social media by using the hashtag #bioproductday2022 and/or #bioproductday. The ten most interesting stories will be interviewed by BioVoices and the three most interesting stories selected by the World BioEconomy Forum will have the opportunity to showcase their bioproduct story at the World BioEconomy Forum 2022.

To further enhance the bioeconomy, the World Bioeconomy Forum has released a new digital platform called worldbiorefineries.com, which is indicating forest based biorefineries and emerging bioproducts in Europe. The first product on this platform is the Biorefinery Map™, published in conjunction with the PulPaper 2022 in Helsinki on 7–9 June 2022.

Founder of the Forum, Jukka Kantola, is delighted, “We’ll hope that world bioproduct day will solidify its position to enhance developments of the bioeconomy. We need show cases and each of us can share his or her story.  Also, we are proud to release the first digital platform for biorefineries and emerging bioproducts in Europe. As an old proverb states: “what gets measured, will get done!”

The Forum 2022 will be held as a hybrid event and the programme is organised according to the Four-Pillar Structure.

The Four-Pillar Structure of
the World BioEconomy Forum

The Forum operates under a strict, Four-Pillar Structure: I The Bioeconomy: People, Planet, Policies, II Global Leaders and the Financial World, III Bioproducts Around Us and IV Looking to the Future. Using the Four-Pillar Structure enables the complete evaluation of the status of the circular bioeconomy and so facilitates developments across the whole of the sector. This makes the Forum and its activities extremely powerful and effective, facilitating a holistic bioeconomy and making significant joint efforts in the mitigation of climate change.

All Forum programmes and activities are aligned with the Four-Pillar Structure, including all Roundtables and the annual Declaration. This four-pillar structure ensures that all relevant stakeholders in the circular bioeconomy have a voice and a platform.
