Asko Hyttinen has hands-on experience of the global forest industry. He has held several management positions in Finland, Germany, Canada, USA and UK with major companies like Stora Enso, UPM, Repap and Pöyry. When in the industry he was involved in major strategic initiatives and roles in corporate strategy, investments, M&A and operations improvement as well as earlier on in paper mill management positions.
Currently he is active as a board member and senior advisor through his own advisory company. He has held board member positions in kaolin industry (Thiele Kaolin Company, USA), wood products industry (CrossLam Kuhmo Oy, Finland) as well as in process design and manufacturing industry (LDX Solutions LLC, USA). Currently he also serves as a board advisor at Detroit Stoker Company, USA – a process design and equipment supplier to energy sector.
Throughout his career he has been involved in the development of best and sustainable industrial practices, like efficient use of fiber, energy and other raw material resources. The current demand for developing bioeconomy strategies in various industries and regions offers a good fit to utilize the experience gained in the industry worldwide.
Asko holds a M. Sc. (Eng.) degree from Aalto University and a MBA degree from the University of Jyväskylä. He is married with one son.
