What are the World Bioeconomy Forum Awards?
The World BioEconomy Forum aims to promote the incredible work ongoing in the circular bioeconomy to fight climate change and create a carbon neutral world. The awards recognise companies, products and people whose contribution created a remarkable impact on the global circular bioeconomy and climate change mitigation.
The recognition process
Awards are presented at the annual Forum during the Gala Dinner on 8 September 2022. Winners will be selected by the Advisory Board of the World BioEconomy Forum.

Clariant has been a role model to the chemical industry in setting up a bold investment in the bioeconomy space. The scale of the project is remarkable and it has been welcomed also by the traditional petrochemical industry.
The Bio Act of the Year for 2022 was awarded to the most remarkable contribution during 2022 related to the circular bioeconomy and climate change mitigation. The Advisory Board considered contributions made by organisations, groups and other entities which facilitate the circular bioeconomy, or mitigate climate change.
Bioproduct of the year 2022
ASCENT MKE
Mass timber high-rise in Milwaukee
Ascent MKE is a good show case on what wood can do and paving the way for urban construction. Wood construction provides less carbon footprint in comparison to traditional steel and concrete structures and is an excellent reference on long-lasting bioproducts.
The Bioproduct of the Year for 2022 was awarded to the most remarkable product related to the circular bioeconomy and climate change mitigation. The Advisory Board considered the novelty and innovativeness of the bioproduct.
Bio Person of the year 2022
PETTERI TAALAS
Secretary-General of WMO
Petteri Taalas has been consistent with his message
on climate change mitigation for years. He regularly reminds stakeholders of the primary reasons for climate change and provides an objective view on scale of of the challenges being faced.
The Bio Person of the Year for 2022 was awarded to an important person within the circular bioeconomy and climate change mitigation. The Advisory Board considered the recognised impact of this individual for the circular bioeconomy and mitigating climate change.

Guavay Company Limited has grown in it short history remarkable fertiliser producer in Tanzania providing bio-based solutions to facilitate food production like growing fruits and vegetables, healthy foof crops and flowers.
The Start-up of the Year award for 2022 was awarded to a startup for contributions to the circular bioeconomy and climate change mitigation via their company. The judges considered the recognised impact of the start-up for the circular bio-economy and climate change.
