Lev Neretin, Team Lead for the Environment at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), manages a team of 30+ professionals overseeing a diverse programme portfolio encompassing sustainable bioeconomy, climate and environmental risk management, compliance with environmental and social safeguards, and UN-to-UN environmental partnerships. With 20+ years of experience in sustainability science, policy, and management, Lev previously worked with UNEP, the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and UNDP. He served as a Senior Coordinator in Japan and the Republic of Korea and contributed significantly to the GEF's Scientific and Technical Advisory Panel. Lev holds a Ph.D. in Oceanography and an M.A. in International Affairs. His research background includes positions at the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology and the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources in Germany.
