Dr. Markus Melin works as a Research Manager and Research Scientist at Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke). He holds a PhD in Forest Sciences from the University of Eastern Finland. His current research focuses on boreal forest health and biodiversity, and how the forests are affected by the changing climate as well as forest management. His core research questions are especially related to forest disturbances and how they are being made more severe due to warming climate and extreme weather events, but also how the risks could be downplayed by enhanced forest management.
